5 year J1-Waiver For IMGs becomes Law ?

My Apologies (blush - blush ) I had previously misinterpreted this to mean an extension of required waiver-job years from three years to five years - BUT after Nitin's comment below, I re-read the bill text details (rather than just the summary like I did before), I realize I erred.
Do accept my apologies and thanks Nitin.

I had blogged about this earlier and found that the bill status updated.Check the bill status here. The last I checked, it read:

H.R. 5571: To extend for 5 years the program relating to waiver of the foreign country residence.

"Signed by President Oct 8, 2008 : This bill has become law. [Last Updated: Nov 17, 2008]"

Basically, The bill basically extends to another five years the 1994 amendment to continue the CONRAD-30 J1-waiver program instead of terminating in 2009, since the United States continues to fall short of primary care docs - which is certainly a good thing for J1 IMGs

Peace!

hey I was going through the link and it seems they are extending the waiver program for another 5 yrs, rather than the time period a doctor has to work.so some one who finshes his/her resident in coming 5yrs can look for waiver program. Lemme know if i misinterprited it.
